Eligix

Eligix was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of cell separation systems designed to improve the outcomes of stem cell transplantation. The company's proprietary High Density Microparticles (HDM) platform allowed for the selective removal of specific cell types, such as cancerous B-cells or graft-versus-host disease-causing T-cells, from a patient's blood or bone marrow. Its lead programs, HDM-B and HDM-T, were developed to treat B-cell malignancies and prevent complications in allogeneic transplants, respectively. The HDM technology utilized antibody-coated microparticles that were significantly denser than cells, enabling rapid separation via centrifugation. Eligix was acquired by BioTransplant in 2001 in a deal valued at approximately $68 million to combine cell processing with transplantation therapeutics.
