Emageon was a provider of enterprise-level medical imaging and information management solutions for hospitals and healthcare networks. The company's primary offering was a suite of software systems designed to manage, store, and distribute digital medical images, such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, across large healthcare enterprises. Their technology focused on improving clinical workflow and providing physicians with multi-specialty visualization tools. Emageon was a pioneer in the transition from film-based radiology to digital Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Following its acquisition by AMICAS in 2009, its technology was integrated into broader healthcare IT portfolios that eventually became part of IBM Watson Health.
