Company intelligence / Profile preview
Emergent Travel Health was a specialized business unit of Emergent BioSolutions focused on the development and commercialization of vaccines for international travelers. The company's portfolio was anchored by two commercial products: Vivotif, an oral vaccine for typhoid fever, and Vaxchora, the only FDA-approved vaccine against cholera. In addition to these marketed products, the unit advanced a late-stage virus-like particle vaccine candidate for Chikungunya through Phase 3 clinical trials. The business was primarily formed through the 2018 acquisition of PaxVax, integrating established manufacturing facilities in Bern, Switzerland. In May 2023, Emergent BioSolutions sold the entire travel health business to Bavarian Nordic for up to $380 million to focus on core public health preparedness markets.
