Empress Medical

Empress Medical is a private women's health medical device company developing a minimally invasive laparoscopic treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroids. Its core product, the Empress system, uses a pressure-induced fibroid ischemia approach in which sutures are placed around fibroids to block blood flow and induce ischemic shrinkage without thermal energy. The company positions the technology as a uterus-preserving alternative intended to expand access to fibroid treatment in standard gynecologic surgical settings and reduce hysterectomy rates. First-in-human clinical data published in Reproductive Sciences reported feasibility, no serious adverse events, and meaningful fibroid volume reduction through 12 months. Empress Medical says it was incorporated in Delaware in 2019 and is preparing for a pivotal clinical phase in the United States.
