Company intelligence / Profile preview
Empriver is developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases based on two patented approaches from NYU Langone: (1) stimulation of innate immunity with CpG oligodeoxynucleotides that activate toll-like receptor 9 to enhance microglial clearance of amyloid beta and tau, shown in aged squirrel monkeys to reduce amyloid plaques by up to 59%, lower tau pathology, and improve cognitive performance; and (2) active and passive immunization strategies against neurotoxic conformers of pathogenic proteins (Aβ, tau, α‑synuclein, TDP‑43) using a non‑self amyloid strain to generate selective antibodies. These programs are currently in nonclinical development with human trials planned but not yet initiated.[2][4]
