Enact Pharma was a British biotechnology company specializing in the development of targeted cancer treatments through its Antibody Directed Enzyme Prodrug Therapy (ADEPT) platform. The company's core technology utilized the bacterial enzyme carboxypeptidase G2 (CPG2) to convert inactive prodrugs into potent cytotoxic agents specifically within the tumor microenvironment. This approach aimed to maximize therapeutic efficacy while minimizing the systemic side effects typically associated with chemotherapy. Enact Pharma was listed on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market before being acquired by Protherics in 2003 for approximately £4.7 million.
