Encore Orthopedics was a prominent medical device company specializing in the design, manufacture, and distribution of orthopedic reconstructive implants. Based in Austin, Texas, the company offered a comprehensive portfolio of products for hip, knee, and shoulder replacement, as well as solutions for trauma and spinal care. One of its most notable contributions was the introduction of the Reverse Shoulder Prosthesis, which significantly impacted the treatment of rotator cuff tear arthropathy in the United States. In 2006, its parent company, Encore Medical Corporation, was acquired by the Blackstone Group for approximately $870 million. Following this, the company was merged with DJO Global in 2007, which was later acquired by Colfax Corporation (now Enovis).
