Company intelligence / Profile preview
Endovascular Technologies (EVT) was a pioneering medical device company focused on the development of minimally invasive treatments for vascular diseases. The company is best known for developing the Ancure Endograft System, the first endovascular device to receive FDA approval for the repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). Founded in 1988, EVT played a critical role in shifting AAA treatment from open surgical repair to less invasive catheter-based interventions. The company was acquired by Guidant Corporation in 1997 for approximately $170 million. Following the acquisition, EVT operated as a subsidiary of Guidant until its assets were eventually integrated into Abbott's vascular division. The company's history is also marked by a significant legal settlement in 2003 regarding the reporting of device malfunctions to regulatory authorities.
