Overview

Enobraq was a French industrial biotechnology company that developed synthetic yeast strains capable of utilizing carbon dioxide and hydrogen as feedstocks for chemical production. Spun off from Toulouse White Biotechnology (TWB) in 2015, the company focused on metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae to create sustainable pathways for producing bio-based chemicals like lactic acid. Their technology aimed to reduce industrial carbon footprints by replacing traditional sugar-based fermentation with CO2-capture processes. Despite significant backing from investors like Sofinnova Partners, the company entered liquidation in late 2021.
