Company intelligence / Profile preview
Entatio Therapeutics was a biotechnology company focused on developing precision medicines for primary mitochondrial diseases (PMD). Founded in 2021 by Apollo Health Ventures and Professor Michal Minczuk of the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit, the company utilized a proprietary platform to target mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) maintenance and repair mechanisms. Their therapeutic approach involved small molecule modulators designed to restore mitochondrial function and address the underlying genetic causes of diseases such as Leigh syndrome and MELAS. In January 2023, Entatio was acquired by AstraZeneca to enhance the pipeline of its rare disease division, Alexion. The acquisition integrated Entatio's expertise in mitochondrial biology into AstraZeneca's broader genomic medicine and rare disease strategy.
