EnvisionRx, now known as Elixir, is a national pharmacy benefit management (PBM) company that provides a comprehensive suite of services including claims processing, network management, and mail-order pharmacy. Founded in 2001, the company is recognized for its transparent, pass-through business model designed to reduce healthcare costs for employers, health plans, and government entities. It was acquired by Rite Aid in 2015 for approximately $2 billion and later rebranded to Elixir in 2020 to integrate its various pharmacy services. Following Rite Aid's bankruptcy filing in 2023, the company was sold to MedImpact Healthcare Systems in early 2024 for approximately $576.5 million. Elixir continues to operate as a major PBM, offering specialized programs for Medicare Part D and specialty pharmacy management.
