Epidaris

Epidaris was a Munich-based biotechnology company specializing in the discovery and development of innovative treatments for chronic inflammatory skin diseases. The company was established as a spin-off from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, leveraging cutting-edge research into the molecular mechanisms of skin inflammation and itch. Its primary focus was on developing small molecule inhibitors targeting pathways involved in conditions such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, with a specific emphasis on Protease-activated receptor 2 (PAR-2). In July 2016, Epidaris was acquired by Maruho, a major Japanese pharmaceutical company dedicated to dermatology, to bolster Maruho's international research and development efforts. Following the acquisition, the company's expertise and early-stage programs were integrated into Maruho's global operations to advance new dermatological therapies.
