Company intelligence / Profile preview
Epitomics is a biotechnology company specializing in the development and production of rabbit monoclonal antibodies (RabMAb) for research, diagnostic, and therapeutic use. The company's proprietary RabMAb technology combines the superior antigen recognition of the rabbit immune system with the scalability of traditional monoclonal antibody production. This results in antibodies with significantly higher affinity and specificity compared to traditional mouse monoclonals. Founded in 2001, Epitomics established itself as a leader in the reagent market before being acquired by Abcam in 2012 for $170 million. Following the acquisition, its therapeutic antibody division was spun off into Apexigen, while the core reagent business continues to operate as a key part of Abcam's portfolio. The company maintains significant research and manufacturing facilities in both Burlingame, California, and Hangzhou, China.
