Epitope Science is a Japanese preclinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing functional antibody therapeutics. Spun out from the National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition (NIBIOHN) in 2020, the company leverages its proprietary 'Epitope-Normalized Antibody Panel' platform to systematically map and target specific epitopes on cell surface receptors. By utilizing biparatopic antibody (BpAb) technology, Epitope Science designs highly functional artificial bispecific antibodies that bind to two distinct epitopes on a single target molecule. This approach allows the company to precisely control receptor signaling, enabling the development of potent antagonists without unwanted agonistic activity for oncology and inflammatory diseases.
