Company intelligence / Profile preview
Equian was a U.S. healthcare information services company focused on payment integrity, cost containment, subrogation, and claims accuracy solutions for healthcare payers and property and casualty insurers. The company used analytics, coding review, and workflow technology to identify billing errors, overpayments, coordination-of-benefits opportunities, and recovery opportunities across large claims volumes. Equian expanded through acquisitions and merger activity, including the combination with Trover Solutions, and served many large U.S. health insurers. In 2019, UnitedHealth Group acquired Equian for approximately $3.2 billion, and the business became part of Optum. It was not a drug-development biotech or pharmaceutical company, but it operated squarely within the healthcare services and health-tech ecosystem.
