Company intelligence / Profile preview
CarraVet, formerly the veterinary division of Carrington Laboratories, was a biopharmaceutical entity focused on developing naturally-derived complex carbohydrate therapeutics for animal health. The company is best known for its EquineVet™ and CarraVet® product lines, which utilized acemannan—a complex carbohydrate isolated from Aloe vera—to stimulate immune responses and accelerate wound healing. Its lead veterinary biologic, Acemannan Immunostimulant™, was indicated for the clinical management of fibrosarcoma in dogs and cats by inducing cytokine release. Following the bankruptcy of its parent company, Carrington Laboratories, in 2009, the veterinary assets and proprietary technologies were largely divested or discontinued.
