Company intelligence / Profile preview
ESA Biosciences was a specialized developer and manufacturer of analytical instruments and clinical diagnostic systems, primarily serving the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries. The company was a pioneer in electrochemical detection technology and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) systems, notably developing the CoulArray and Corona Charged Aerosol Detection (CAD) platforms. These technologies provided researchers with high sensitivity and selectivity for analyzing small molecules in complex biological matrices, such as blood and tissue. ESA's products were instrumental in fields like metabolomics, neuroscience, and drug metabolism studies. In 2004, the company was acquired by Magellan Biosciences to bolster its clinical diagnostics portfolio. Subsequently, in 2009, its HPLC and electrochemical detection assets were sold to Dionex Corporation, which is now a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
