ESI Lederle

ESI Lederle was the generic pharmaceutical division of Wyeth (formerly American Home Products), specializing in the development and manufacture of multi-source injectable and oral medications. Formed in 1994 through the merger of ESI Pharma and the generic operations of Lederle Laboratories, the company became a significant player in the U.S. generic drug market. Its portfolio included a wide range of antibiotics, oncology treatments, and critical care medicines. In 2002, Wyeth sold the ESI Lederle injectable generic business to Baxter International for approximately $305 million to focus on its core innovative pharmaceutical research. Following this divestiture and the subsequent acquisition of Wyeth by Pfizer in 2009, the ESI Lederle brand was retired, and its assets were integrated into the acquiring entities.
