Esprit Pharma was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on identifying, developing, and commercializing high-potential products in specific therapeutic areas, notably urology and women's health. The company's lead product was Sanctura (trospium chloride), a treatment for overactive bladder, which it co-promoted with Indevus Pharmaceuticals. Esprit also marketed the Estratest family of products for menopausal symptoms. In 2007, the company was acquired by Allergan for approximately $370 million to strengthen Allergan's urology and women's health portfolios. Prior to its acquisition, Esprit was a private company backed by prominent venture capital firms including New Enterprise Associates and Apax Partners.
