Ester Neurosciences

Ester Neurosciences was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapies for neurological and neuromuscular disorders. The company's core technology was based on the research of Professor Hermona Soreq into the role of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in stress responses and disease. Its lead candidate, Monarsen (EN101), was an antisense oligonucleotide designed to treat Myasthenia Gravis by selectively inhibiting the production of the "read-through" isoform of AChE. Ester Neurosciences was acquired by Amarin Corporation in 2007 to bolster Amarin's neuroscience pipeline, though development of the lead asset was later discontinued as Amarin pivoted toward cardiovascular health.
