ETF Managers Group, commonly branded as ETFMG, is a U.S.-based thematic exchange-traded fund sponsor and SEC-registered investment adviser focused on launching and managing ETFs rather than developing therapeutics or healthcare products. The firm became known for first-to-market thematic ETFs spanning areas such as cannabis, cybersecurity, mobile payments, shipping decarbonization, and other niche investment themes. Although some of its products provided exposure to healthcare and biotech industries, the company itself operates in financial services, not life sciences. ETFMG announced the sale of its ETF lineup to Amplify ETFs in 2023, and Amplify completed the acquisition in January 2024. As a result, ETF Managers Group is best understood as a financial ETF manager with legacy brand relevance rather than a biotech, pharma, or healthcare operating company.
