Company intelligence / Profile preview
EuroCetus was the European operating subsidiary of Cetus Corporation, one of the pioneering companies in the biotechnology industry. Established to manage clinical development, regulatory affairs, and commercial operations in Europe, the company focused primarily on oncology and immunology. Its most significant achievement was the European development and launch of Proleukin (aldesleukin), a recombinant form of interleukin-2 used for treating metastatic renal cell carcinoma and melanoma. EuroCetus also played a critical role in the development of Betaseron (interferon beta-1b) for multiple sclerosis in collaboration with Schering AG. Following the acquisition of Cetus Corporation by Chiron Corporation in 1991, EuroCetus operations were integrated into Chiron's European infrastructure.
