Company intelligence / Profile preview
Eurogenet was a prominent Belgian biotechnology company specializing in medical genetics and molecular diagnostics. Founded in 1989 as a spin-off from the University of Liège, the company established itself as a leader in the European market for genetic testing services, including prenatal screening and molecular analysis for hereditary diseases. In June 2001, Eurogenet was acquired by Genzyme Corporation to serve as the foundation for Genzyme's genetic testing business in Europe. Following Genzyme's acquisition by Sanofi and the subsequent sale of the genetics business to LabCorp, Eurogenet's operations were integrated into LabCorp's global diagnostic network. The company was recognized for its high-quality laboratory standards and its role in bridging academic research with clinical genetic practice.
