European consortium

The European Vaccine Initiative (EVI) is a leading European non-profit product development partnership (PDP) dedicated to supporting the development of effective and affordable vaccines for diseases of poverty and emerging infectious threats. Originally established in 1998 as the European Malaria Vaccine Initiative, the organization has since expanded its scope to include tuberculosis, leishmaniasis, and other global health priorities. EVI operates as a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG), coordinating a vast network of academic, public, and private partners to accelerate vaccine candidates through the clinical pipeline. The organization provides strategic leadership, funding coordination, and technical expertise to bridge the gap between early-stage research and late-stage clinical development. By fostering international collaboration, EVI aims to strengthen global health security and ensure equitable access to life-saving immunizations in low- and middle-income countries.
