European Crystal Network

European Crystal Network (ECN) was a Belgian contract research organization (CRO) specializing in protein crystallization and structural biology services. Founded as a spin-off from the University of Liège, the company provided high-throughput crystallization screening, optimization, and X-ray diffraction data collection to support drug discovery programs. ECN's core expertise facilitated structure-based drug design by delivering high-resolution three-dimensional structures of complex biological targets. In 2009, the company merged with Crelux GmbH, a German structural biology firm, to create a comprehensive service provider for the pharmaceutical industry. The legacy of ECN's operations is now part of WuXi AppTec, following its acquisition of Crelux in 2016.
