Europlak was a French medical technology company that specialized in the development and manufacture of infection control, wound care, and specialized surgical devices. The company was notably recognized for its proprietary chitosan-based physical hydrogel technology, which was utilized for cutaneous repair and cicatrization. Europlak also developed innovative medical devices, including motorized gastric rings for the treatment of obesity and implantable prostheses for urinary incontinence. In February 2006, Europlak was acquired by Microtek Medical Holdings, Inc. to expand its infection control portfolio and European market presence. Following the subsequent acquisition of Microtek by Ecolab in 2007, Europlak's technologies were integrated into Ecolab's healthcare division.
