Everest Biomedical Instruments was a medical technology company specializing in the development and manufacture of diagnostic devices for neonatal care and audiology. The company was best known for its ALGO line of automated newborn hearing screening systems, which utilized proprietary Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) technology to detect hearing impairment in infants. These devices became a clinical standard in hospitals worldwide due to their high sensitivity and specificity in early detection programs. In January 2003, Everest Biomedical Instruments was acquired by Natus Medical for approximately $10.5 million, allowing Natus to integrate Everest's screening technologies into its market-leading portfolio of newborn care products.
