Company intelligence / Profile preview
F.E.G.S. Health and Human Services System (FEGS) was a major non-profit health and human services organization based in New York City. Founded in 1934, it grew to become one of the largest agencies of its kind in the United States, providing behavioral health, disability services, and vocational training. The organization operated an extensive network of clinics, residential facilities, and community-based programs serving over 100,000 individuals annually. In early 2015, FEGS filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy following the discovery of a massive financial deficit and operational mismanagement. Its operations were subsequently shuttered, and the majority of its programs were transferred to other social service providers like The Jewish Board. The collapse of FEGS remains a landmark case in the oversight and financial sustainability of large-scale non-profit healthcare contractors.
