Familymeds was a healthcare services company that operated as a leading retail and online pharmacy provider in the United States. The company specialized in providing prescription medications, specialty pharmacy services, and over-the-counter health products through its digital platform, Familymeds.com, and a network of physical locations. It was a pioneer in the e-pharmacy sector, being one of the first to receive VIPPS certification and aiming to integrate traditional pharmacy care with the convenience of e-commerce. Following a series of corporate restructurings, the company was taken private by Kohlberg & Company in 2007, and its online assets were eventually acquired by Drugstore.com (now part of Walgreens) in 2011.
