Far-Manguinhos

Far-Manguinhos, officially the Institute of Drug Technology, is a prominent Brazilian pharmaceutical laboratory and a technical-scientific unit of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). As the primary manufacturer for the Brazilian Ministry of Health, it specializes in the R&D and production of essential medicines for the Unified Health System (SUS). The institute is globally recognized for its leadership in producing antiretroviral drugs for HIV/AIDS and treatments for neglected tropical diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis. Far-Manguinhos utilizes Product Development Partnerships (PDPs) to facilitate technology transfer from multinational pharma companies, ensuring domestic production of high-cost medications. Its portfolio also includes treatments for chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and Parkinson's disease. The organization operates a large-scale manufacturing complex in Rio de Janeiro, maintaining high standards of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
