Faulding (F.H. Faulding & Co) was a prominent Australian pharmaceutical company founded in 1845 that grew into a global leader in the development and manufacture of generic drugs and specialized drug delivery systems. The company was highly regarded for its portfolio of injectable oncology products and oral medicines, including the well-known sustained-release morphine treatment, Kapanol. At its peak, Faulding operated in multiple international markets, providing essential medicines to hospitals and retail pharmacies. In 2001, the company was acquired by Mayne Group for approximately $2.5 billion AUD, marking one of the largest acquisitions in the Australian healthcare sector at the time. Its legacy continues through various successor entities, including Pfizer and Mayne Pharma, while the Faulding brand name remains in the consumer health market.
