Federation of State Medical Boards

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) is a national non-profit organization representing the 70 medical and osteopathic boards of the United States and its territories. It co-sponsors the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and maintains the Physician Data Center (PDC), a comprehensive database of physician licensure and disciplinary actions. FSMB provides essential services such as the Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS) to streamline the medical licensing process for physicians and physician assistants. The organization also leads advocacy efforts and develops model policies to support state boards in their mission to protect the public through effective medical regulation.
