Company intelligence / Profile preview
Fermenta Animal Health was a prominent manufacturer and marketer of veterinary pharmaceuticals and biologics, primarily serving the livestock and companion animal markets. The company was established in the mid-1980s following the acquisition of SDS Biotech's animal health business by the Swedish conglomerate Fermenta AB. Its product portfolio featured well-known brands such as Denagard for swine dysentery and the Rabvac line of rabies vaccines. Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, the company maintained significant research and manufacturing operations focused on animal vaccines and parasiticides. In 1997, Fermenta Animal Health was acquired by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, significantly expanding the latter's presence in the U.S. animal health market. Today, its legacy products continue to be distributed under the Boehringer Ingelheim brand.
