FHC Health Systems was a prominent healthcare services company specializing in behavioral health and managed care. Founded by Dr. Ronald Dozoretz, the company became a leader in providing mental health and substance abuse services through its various subsidiaries, including First Hospital Corporation. It is most notably recognized for its 1998 merger with Value Behavioral Health to form ValueOptions, which became one of the largest independent behavioral health improvement companies in the United States. The company provided a wide array of services, including psychiatric hospital management and administrative services for health plans and employers. Following a series of industry consolidations, its operations were eventually integrated into Beacon Health Options. The entity's legacy concluded with the acquisition of Beacon Health Options by Elevance Health in 2020.
