Flamentera

Flamentera AG was a Swiss biotechnology company focused on developing novel biomarkers and diagnostic assays for gastrointestinal diseases, particularly celiac disease. Founded in 2009 by renowned Stanford professor Chaitan Khosla, the company aimed to address the lack of reliable surrogate markers for monitoring celiac disease activity and gluten-induced intestinal damage. One of its key research areas involved correlating small intestinal Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity with enteropathic severity in celiac patients. The company collaborated with academic institutions like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to validate its biomarker protocols. Flamentera AG has since entered liquidation and is no longer active.
