Floating Doctors

Floating Doctors is an active nonprofit healthcare organization that delivers ongoing mobile medical services, health education, and community development programs to remote underserved communities in Panama, particularly in the Bocas del Toro region. The organization operates recurring boat-, foot-, and packhorse-accessed clinics and provides acute care, preventive care, prenatal and postnatal care, dental services, and some veterinary support. Unlike a drug-development biotech or pharma company, Floating Doctors is a service-delivery organization focused on care access, continuity of care, and health-system support rather than therapeutics R&D. It also maintains clinical records across dozens of communities and uses that data for program monitoring and quality improvement. The group additionally runs volunteer, immersion, and fellowship programs that support healthcare workforce exposure and community capacity building.
