Florence Medical was an Israeli medical technology company that developed the Florence System, a sophisticated hemodynamic monitoring and renal protection platform. The system was designed to protect patients from contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) during cardiac catheterization and other interventional procedures by monitoring renal function in real-time and managing fluid balance. The company's technology aimed to reduce the risk of acute kidney injury in high-risk patients undergoing imaging procedures. Florence Medical was acquired by Edwards Lifesciences in 2008 to bolster their critical care and vascular monitoring portfolio. The acquisition allowed Edwards to integrate automated fluid management into its existing hemodynamic monitoring solutions. The company was founded by serial entrepreneur Shlomo Ben-Haim and was a pioneer in the field of automated renal protection.
