The company's lead program is a gene therapy for Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), developed in collaboration with the University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Their proprietary technology platform involves modifying AAV capsids with mitochondrial targeting sequences to deliver therapeutic genes directly to the mitochondria, addressing the root cause of mitochondrial disorders. In January 2024, the company was acquired by NAYA Biosciences for $20 million to anchor its regenerative medicine division and accelerate the development of its mitochondrial disease pipeline.
