Florida LambdaRail (FLR) is a high-speed, fiber-optic network consortium owned and operated by Florida's leading research and education institutions. Established in 2003, it provides a dedicated statewide communications infrastructure that facilitates advanced research, education, and economic development. FLR enables high-performance data transfer and collaboration across various scientific disciplines, including bioinformatics, genomics, and clinical research, by connecting member institutions to national and international research networks like Internet2. The network spans over 1,500 miles of fiber and serves as a critical backbone for Florida's innovation ecosystem, supporting major research centers such as the Moffitt Cancer Center and Scripps Research. It operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the state's research capabilities through next-generation networking technologies.
