Overview
FluorO2 Therapeutics develops perfluorocarbon-based artificial blood products. Its lead product—Perftoran/Vidaphor—is approved as an artificial blood substitute in several countries outside the United States. The emulsion has been administered to over 30,000–40,000 patients with good safety results and few adverse reactions. Clinical studies have shown efficacy reducing allogeneic transfusions during cardiac surgery. The company aims to relaunch its rebranded product Vidaphor starting with Mexico before expanding into Latin America and eventually seeking approval for broader indications—including trauma—in the United States. Manufacturing has moved to GMP-compliant facilities in the U.S., but U.S. commercialization awaits further regulatory progress.[1][3][4]
