Fluorotechnics was an Australian biotechnology company specializing in the development of high-performance fluorescent labels and stains for proteomics and cell biology. The company's core technology utilized epicocconone, a natural product fluorophore that enables highly sensitive detection of proteins in gels, blots, and live cells. Its flagship product, Deep Purple, was a market-leading protein stain distributed globally through a partnership with GE Healthcare. Fluorotechnics expanded its operations by acquiring Gel Company and Electrophoretics Ltd, broadening its portfolio to include electrophoresis consumables and laboratory equipment. The company was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) before its assets were eventually divested and the corporate entity restructured.
