Focus Technologies

Focus Technologies, primarily operating through its subsidiary Focus Diagnostics, was a leading developer of infectious disease and immunology diagnostic products and services. The company was renowned for its high-complexity reference laboratory and its ability to rapidly develop and commercialize assays for emerging pathogens, such as West Nile virus and SARS. Based in Cypress, California, Focus provided specialized testing services to hospitals, public health agencies, and pharmaceutical companies globally. In 2006, the company was acquired by Quest Diagnostics for $210 million to enhance its specialty testing portfolio. Subsequently, in 2016, the product manufacturing business of Focus Diagnostics was sold to DiaSorin, while the laboratory services remained integrated within Quest Diagnostics.
