Fondazione Italiana Sclerosi Multipla

Fondazione Italiana Sclerosi Multipla (FISM) is the research arm of the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association (AISM), serving as a leading non-profit organization dedicated to funding and conducting scientific research into multiple sclerosis (MS). Established in 1998, FISM coordinates and finances a wide array of research projects, ranging from basic science to clinical trials, with a focus on finding the cause of MS and improving treatments. The foundation manages the Italian MS Register, a critical epidemiological tool, and has been instrumental in international collaborations such as the Progressive MS Alliance. FISM also directly supports multi-center clinical trials, including significant studies on mesenchymal stem cells and rehabilitation strategies. Its mission is to accelerate the translation of research findings into clinical practice to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with MS.
