Food Allergy Project

The Food Allergy Project was a prominent non-profit research and advocacy organization founded in 2006 by David and Denise Bunning to accelerate the discovery of treatments and a cure for life-threatening food allergies. The organization was a major funder of high-impact clinical and basic research at leading academic institutions, including Stanford University, Duke University, and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Its funding and advocacy were instrumental in the early development of oral immunotherapy (OIT) and the identification of genetic pathways for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). In December 2008, the Food Allergy Project merged with the Food Allergy Initiative (FAI), which subsequently merged with the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) in 2012 to form Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), the world's largest non-profit dedicated to food allergy research.
