Forest Pharmaceuticals was a prominent American pharmaceutical company and a primary subsidiary of Forest Laboratories, specializing in the development and commercialization of branded ethical drug products. The company established a significant market presence in the central nervous system (CNS), cardiovascular, and respiratory therapeutic areas through a combination of internal development and strategic licensing agreements. Its portfolio was anchored by blockbuster treatments such as the antidepressants Lexapro and Celexa, as well as the Alzheimer's medication Namenda. In 2014, Forest Laboratories was acquired by Actavis in a deal valued at approximately $25 billion. Following subsequent mergers, the company's assets and operations were eventually integrated into AbbVie.
