Forest Research Institute was the primary research and development subsidiary of Forest Laboratories, a major American pharmaceutical company. The institute specialized in the clinical development and regulatory navigation of branded pharmaceutical products, focusing heavily on central nervous system disorders, cardiovascular health, and gastroenterology. It was responsible for the development and approval of several high-profile blockbuster drugs, including Lexapro for depression and Namenda for Alzheimer's disease. The institute's strategy often involved licensing promising compounds from international partners and managing their late-stage clinical trials and FDA approval processes. Following the acquisition of Forest Laboratories by Actavis in 2014, the institute's operations were integrated into the acquiring company, which eventually became part of AbbVie.
