Overview
Forward Pharma developed a proprietary formulation of dimethyl fumarate for inflammatory and neurological conditions. The company granted an irrevocable license to all its intellectual property to Biogen in exchange for a $1.25 billion payment in February 2017. It returned most proceeds to shareholders and began solvent liquidation in early 2025. The company may receive future royalties from Biogen on sales outside the U.S., depending on European patent outcomes. No ongoing R&D or clinical programs.
