Freedom Cardio is a medical device company specializing in the development of transcatheter heart valve technologies, specifically focusing on tricuspid valve replacement. Founded by interventional cardiologists from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the company developed a novel transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement (TTVR) system designed to treat patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation. The technology aims to provide a minimally invasive alternative for patients who are at high risk for traditional open-heart surgery. In July 2024, the company was acquired by Edwards Lifesciences to strengthen its structural heart portfolio and expand its footprint in the rapidly growing tricuspid repair and replacement market.
