Fundación Mundo Sano

Fundación Mundo Sano is a private non-profit foundation dedicated to reducing the impact of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) through scientific research, field interventions, and public-private partnerships. Founded in 1993 and led by Dr. Silvia Gold, the organization focuses on diseases such as Chagas, Dengue, and soil-transmitted helminthiasis, primarily in Latin America, Europe, and Africa. A landmark achievement for the foundation was spearheading the efforts to ensure the production and FDA approval of benznidazole, the first-line treatment for Chagas disease. The foundation works closely with academic institutions and international health organizations to translate scientific evidence into effective public health policies. By fostering multi-sector collaborations, Mundo Sano aims to improve healthcare access and quality of life for vulnerable populations affected by infectious diseases.
