Fundamental Applied Biology (FAB), now known as Sutro Biopharma, is a biotechnology company that pioneered the use of cell-free protein synthesis for drug discovery and development. The company's proprietary XpressCF platform enables the rapid design and precise engineering of complex biotherapeutics, including site-specific antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and bispecific antibodies. By moving protein production outside of the living cell, FAB's technology overcomes traditional manufacturing constraints, allowing for the incorporation of non-natural amino acids to optimize therapeutic profiles.
